In my opinion, the price is much too high. There are too many great crate engines that you can get for much less money. You also get a warranty with a new crate engine. The GT name isn’t worth that much money without the rest of the car.

Very cool, but sort of a CP (for me anyway) . If only because they gradually took what was special about that engine and put it in the GT500. In some ways, the newer engine is a little better.

It is sort of like comparing the LSA to the LS9. Yes, the LS9 is better, but is it worth much more than the LSA? Not really in my book.

Fo sho. I’d rather find one of the ones that has been done before, haha. There is definitely an FD in our (probably distant) future because it’s my wife’s favorite and I won’t ever turn down an opportunity to obtain a cool car.

I don’t have the same emotional investment in the RX. I like the Wankel as a neat mechanical/ engineering thing, but I don’t want to own one. I had the “opportunity” to buy a white FD that was “mid-LS Swap” for 12.5k. No thanks...

Completely agree, but forget the price, I just think it’s a cool engine that needs a good home.

It’s like my neighbors’ MasterCraft boat. The engine has Corvette logos on it because it had something in common with the engine that went in Corvettes in 1995. Maybe a lot in common, don’t know. But in any case, it was just a ~300 hp Chevy 350, and really just made owners feel COOL because Corvette engine dude!

No idea on weight. It’s totally CP because it’s now basically just a 550hp crate motor. An excellent crate motor, no doubt, but couldn’t you get that kind of HP for like, 1/3 the price?

Still it’s neat. And I bet it would fit in my boat which already has a 350 with a fair bit of space around it.

I agree that this engine needs a good home. I just think that home is a Ford GT. I’m sure that there is one out there that either needs or will need an engine replacement.

Lmao, I know right.  I’ve been wanting to do the swap since the hellcats came out.  This particular one is right down the street from me too.  And $12k for the full drivetrain isn’t too bad IMO.  Still more than I can spend right now, but good to know they’re out there.  I saw a guy that has a 392 in his second gen Dakota and it fit real nice.  That would be plenty of power for these trucks.  But who doesn’t want more power?

Can’t disagree there. Plus, someone with a real GT might be willing to pay something like that for a good engine.
